A Word from Pastor Dave

Hello Church Family,

Would you help us wrap up a few loose ends as 2010 comes to a close?

THE NEW DIRECTORY IS IN PROCESS…but we need your help to ensure its accuracy. Please take a minute to contact Bertie Miller, Office Administrator, either by phone call, 503.375.2625, or by e-mail (bmiller@salemnaz.org), if any of the following apply to you and your family:

--You MOVED…CHANGED your phone number or e-mail address…YOUR FAMILY STATUS changed in any way…in the last few months.

--You NO LONGER ATTEND Salem First, do not wish to receive these communications, or be listed in the new directory.

IRS REQUIRES THAT 2010 CONTRIBUTIONS BE RECEIVED OR POSTMARKED BY DECEMBER 31, 2010.
FYI: Contribution statements for tax preparation will be mailed out in January to those folks who have established a giving number with the church office.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2011:
If you are not currently using a giving number but would like to so that you can begin receiving statements for tax purposes, please contact Bertie Miller (contact info above) to request a number.

I am so grateful for each of you and I pray that you will experience a deepening awareness and overflowing abundance of God’s love in 2011.

Pastor Dave

P.S.  No Wednesday evening activities at the church this week…December 29

P.S.S.We go back to two services this Sunday, 9:15 & 11:00 am

Hello all, ( and in particular Ginnie ), The anenbr came into being after I made a throw away' comment at a knit and natter' meeting in Dalmally, many months ago, when I suggested it might be nice to work on something together ! The bicentenary celebrations changed that suggestion into a project and .well . the result now hangs in the Kirk for all to see ! The theme of Thinking Back and Looking Forward' was translated into sixteen 12 sq panels each illustrating aspects of parish life during the last two hundred years crofting, education, music, transport and many others Each panel is very individual, both in design and execution cross stitch, tapestry, silk painting, felting and many others, some abstract, others factual, but all beautiful !The corner panels feature a celtic cross design and the whole anenbr is framed with a celtic knot design border all of which are worked in cross stitch 794,976 stitches to be exact !!!!! -The central panel is velvet and the image of the Church is worked in a variety of felting techniques. The overall size of the anenbr is 66 wide by 90 long .and it is VERY heavy !And finally .Post cards and a booklet are currently in production.Do visit the Kirk if you can as some of the detail cannot possibly be appreciated from a photo ! Thank you for your interest. Andrea.
