Student Ministries Auction & Dessert

February 24 - Student Ministries Auction & Dessert

Time:    6:00pm Silent Auction, 7:00pm Program & Oral Auction

Location: Salem First Church of the Nazarene

This year's auction is a "dessert only" event which will include a silent & oral auction.  There are four ways you can help:

  • We are looking for "Table Hosts" who would be willing to fill (and host) a table of 8 people for the evening of the auction.  An informational sheet is available below with more information.
  • We are looking for "Table Sponsors" to financially sponsor a table for $40.  This covers the cost of dessert and decorations for that table.
  • We are currently accepting donations of new items, nights at vacation houses, game tickets, gift baskets and/or gift certificates for this year's auction.
  • We would love for you to attend the auction and help support our summer 2012 Students and our Summer Missions Trip to Honduras.

  • If you (or someone you know) would like to help with any of the above items, please stop by the "Honduras" area at the Welcome Center on Sunday, or contact Pastor Greg Hall (Greg@SalemNaz.org).

Our Missions trip in 2012 will be to Honduras. Below is some information.

    Dates: June 24-July 2 or 3, 2012

Work: Building a permanent church structure in La Frontera, located in the northern part of Honduras.  In addition, there will be an aspect of social ministry, such as music, sports, or a Vacation Bible School. Working with Tom & Amy Haines, resident missionaries.

    Cost - Total: $1,600

In country: $550 (pays for meals, room/board, travel) Souvenirs not included. Flights (approximate, based on this year’s prices) $1,050.

Fundraising: There will be group fundraisers, but each participant will also need to put effort into saving a portion of their own money.

~Support letters—prayer support is the most important, but financial support is a huge blessing!  The more you put into raising support, the better the return.

  • Birthday gifts, directed giving
  • Volunteers needed for a “fundraising team.”  Are you interested?  Let Greg or Nathan Colburn know.

    • It's like... a brand new year!

      Hey everyone...

I trust that your holiday season was a success. Gifts purchased... gifts received... lots of food... relatives you haven't seen in a while.

The new year is upon us and we are about to embark on a new year with new things in store. We had a great family BBQ on Jan 1st in The Basement. Lots of families and friends showed up. We are planning to make this a monthly thing... First Sunday Family BBQ's. So the first Sunday of every month we will have a family event in The Basement. The next one is Superbowl Sunday! Let's plan on it.

The Student Auction is coming up on February 24th. That's a little earlier than year's past... so it's time to get going on gathering together your auction items. More to come in the next week or so.

It's also time to say goodbye to a couple of people. David Stark has been volunteering as a leader for the last year and a half. He is heading to Florida for an acting/modeling training school. He feels that God is calling him to this area and is stepping out in faith to see what God has for him. We have appreciated David's leadership with our guys while he has been with us.

My assistant, Mary Weeks, is also leaving for further training. She has felt the Lord calling her to spend time studying His word and will be in biblical training with the New Tribes organization. Mary has been an important part of our youth ministry team for many years. Her absence will be felt on many different levels. We wish her well and hope that she is able to use the next few months preparing for whatever God has planned for her life.
