Parent Meeting Notes for 12-6-09
1. Follow us on Twitter - @NazHSM - For those of you who are already using
Twitter... you’ll be glad to hear that Pastor Greg is using Twitter to send out
updates on HSM events. For those who don’t use Twitter... you can just go to the
HS website listed above and read the most recent Twitter posts. You don’t need to
be a Twitter user to utilize these updates.
2. New Web Site - In January - The whole church website is undergoing a complete
makeover. While the current site will continue to be updated through next
month... the new site will allow the HS staff to communicate much more easily
with students and parents. As always... check the website for updates!
3. The Big Dig - Starts Jan 4th! - Students from 1st through 12th grades will be
starting a Bible reading program in Jan that will last 12 months... and take them
through the entire Bible. We would love to have your whole family involved in this
program. There is a promotional video on the website that outlines the program a
little. Students will be asked to participate in the program at one of three
reading/listening levels (23, 12, or 7 chapters a week) & will have the
opportunity to change their commitment every month. Listening to audio counts
too! No specific translation is required. We just want students to be in God’s word.
More information to follow in the next few weeks.
4. The Auction - May 7th will be our Annual Student Auction. This is a fundraiser
to help offset student’s costs for our Mission Trip and Retreats. This year we are
only doing “new items” and “gift certificates”. Used items will not be accepted for
the auction. In order to receive a $100 in their student account, each student will
need to bring in $100 worth of new item donations, sell 4 tickets for the auction,
and work the night of the auction and set up. If you have any questions, please
ask.
5. Parent Care Meetings - Several times over the next year (see the schedule
below) we will be meeting with parents (no kids) on Sunday evenings. I’m calling
this Parent Care because these meetings will be geared to taking care and
encouraging the parents of our HS students. I’m really looking forward to these
evenings. Please put them on your schedule now!
