Parent Letter

Parents,

These are exciting days in the middle school ministry of Salem First!  I wanted to take a few minutes to update you on a few things:

We just finished a five-week series called Media Frenzy.  Our students were very engaged during this series as we talked about media and how as Christians we need to sort and filter all the things thrown our way.  I wanted to provide you with some of the points from the series so you could discuss them with your student and continue the conversation at home.  I have included this guide on the back of this letter.  Ask your student about some of the points listed… this is a great way to continue the conversation at home.

This Sunday, Feb. 16 we’re having an after church hang out time.  Thanks to the Hittner family for opening up their home for us!  I will have limited transportation for students from the church so make sure to arrange a way for your student to get to this activity!  All they need is one dollar and that includes lunch.  We’ll be hanging out and playing a few games.  You can pick up your child at 3pm.  I’ll be giving out directions Sunday as well as have a stack at the information center in the lobby.   If you would be willing to open your home to the middle school group in the future please let me know.

I also wanted to let you know that we are currently having a “Bring your Bible for a Basket” contest going on right now.  Each time a student brings their Bible to church they enter their name for a drawing to win special Nerf Easter Baskets.  Please encourage your student to always bring their Bible to church.  We use them every Wednesday and Sunday!  If your student doesn’t have a Bible please let me know and we’ll get them one!

As you are aware our high school pastor, Tyler Jenkins, is going to be leaving us soon.  Tyler has been a great ministry partner and I will definitely miss him.  Let him know you’ll be praying for him as he sets out on a new adventure.  For the interim I will be leading both groups.  I wanted to let you know that things in the middle school group will continue to stay the same.  We are not combining the students into one large group or anything like that.  I know some of you may have questions and I would be glad to meet with you.  Feel free to call or e-mail me to chat or set up a meeting.

I appreciate the privilege to minister to your student and your family.

Joshua
